Print after a work by John Constable. Wonderful print from a sketch by the celebrated 19th Century artist. The image shows him sat on a chair at his table or desk. His posture displays complete concentration and contentment. John Constable was born in Dedham, Suffolk in 1776. In his early youth it was decided he should aim for the church but Sir George Beaumont encouraged his artistic proclivities and in 1799/1800 he became a student at the Royal Academy Schools. Constable became a member of the Royal Academy in 1829. He lived in Hampstead from 1827, where he found many of his themes in landscape. The page size is 7 1/2" x 10" with the portrait being 3 1/2" x 5 1/2". Slight water stain to right margin.

Excellent quality colour print from a oil painting by Joseph Wright titled. "Self-portrait". In the painting he is dressed in the period costume of the late 18th century middle classes. He wears a heavy frock coat in a brown material with a linen shirt with a scarf at his neck. The page is 8" x 10".

Interesting colour print from a painting by Sir Anthony Van Dyke. Titled "Self Portrait". This print shows the famous painter Van Dyke. He is shown looking over his shoulder looking back towards the viewer of the picture. He is dressed in a fine robe with a gold chain around his neck. His right hand stretches up towards a sun flower which is on the right side of the print. The background is typical of Van Dyke being half architectural and half topographical. The print is mounted on backing paper 11" x 8 1/2" with the portrait being 8" x 6 3/4".
